Jhansi: Chaos prevailed in Udaipur-bound 19665 Khajuraho intercity train after smoke was seen emanating from electric panel of the AC III tier M2 coach. The incident occurred shortly after the train arrived at Mauranipur station around 12:30 pm on Friday afternoon.
The passengers evacuated the affected coach, while the vigilant coach attendants swiftly removed the linen stacked near the panel to prevent further damage. Railway workers reached the scene with firefighting equipment and local fire brigade also arrived at the station to assist in the situation.
Public relations officer (PRO) of North Central Railway (NCR) Jhansi division Manoj Kumar Singh said that the train resumed its journey after a delay of 40 minutes after the passengers of the damaged coach were accommodated in the adjacent coach.
