Hyderabad: Farmers from Pillaipalli, Pochampally, and other villages turned up in large numbers at a programme organised by Congress MP from Bhongir, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy, at Pillaiappli in support of the Musi rejuvenation project being taken up by the govt.
The farmers extended their support to the Musi project, stating they were doing agriculture with the polluted waters of the Musi, which resulted in less demand for their agricultural produce.
They demanded that Musi water should be cleaned or that only fresh water should be released into the Musi. They assured the Congress MP that they would come in large numbers to the Musi riverbed in the city to explain to the local residents how they were suffering from polluted Musi water. They also wanted to send a message to the opposition that the farmers of Rangareddy, Nalgonda, and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri districts were in favour of the Musi project.
MP Kiran Reddy, who returned from Seoul in South Korea after studying the riverfront development project there, said BRS and BJP should stop misleading the people living in the Musi riverbed. He noted that worldwide, many countries have undertaken riverfront development in the heart of cities, leading to rapid economic development and providing a better environmental life for the people.
