Chandigarh: The Election Commission on Friday appointed general, police, and expenditure observers for the bypolls in four legislative assembly constituencies in Punjab.
Punjab’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Sibin C said that Ajay Singh Tomer has been appointed as the general observer for Dera Baba Nanak constituency, Tapas Kumar Bagchi for Chabbewal, Samitha R for Gidderbaha, and Naveen S L for Barnala constituency. Similarly, Siddharth Kaushal was appointed as police observer for Dera Baba Nanak and Chabbewal constituencies, while Uddandi Udaya Kiran for Gidderbaha and Barnala constituencies. TNN

Notable upgrades include the Rs 1.50 crore Mailottumoozhi-Chaikkulam Road, Rs 12.90 crore Nettichira-Vellanad-Poovachal Road, and Rs 6 crore Vellanad-Kannampally-Cheppod-Mulayar Road. Enhancements include new drainage systems, retaining walls, and road safety markings.
