Chandigarh: The Election Commission on Friday appointed general, police, and expenditure observers for the bypolls in four legislative assembly constituencies in Punjab.
Punjab’s chief electoral officer (CEO) Sibin C said that Ajay Singh Tomer has been appointed as the general observer for Dera Baba Nanak constituency, Tapas Kumar Bagchi for Chabbewal, Samitha R for Gidderbaha, and Naveen S L for Barnala constituency. Similarly, Siddharth Kaushal was appointed as police observer for Dera Baba Nanak and Chabbewal constituencies, while Uddandi Udaya Kiran for Gidderbaha and Barnala constituencies. TNN

PWD minister P A Mohamed Riyas inaugurated three newly renovated roads in Aruvikkara, improved at a total cost of over Rs 20 crore. Notable upgrades include the Rs 1.50 crore Mailottumoozhi-Chaikkulam Road, Rs 12.90 crore Nettichira-Vellanad-Poovachal Road, and Rs 6 crore Vellanad-Kannampally-Cheppod-Mulayar Road. Enhancements include new drainage systems, retaining walls, and road safety markings.
