Varanasi: Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University (VBSPU) has been awarded the Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (DST-PURSE) grant of Rs 7.13 crore.
DST-PURSE grant, a flagship program initiated by Ministry of Science and Technology, is provided for research in the field of energy. This year, VBSPU became the only university in the state to receive the grant and and it's celebrating in a big way. The accomplishment is expected to steer scientific research in a new direction for the university.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Vandana Singh expressed gratitude for this achievement, stating that it elevates the university's reputation and positions Uttar Pradesh as a leader in science and innovation. The research will focus on critical areas such as solar energy, hydrogen energy, and advanced battery technology, addressing contemporary challenges in sustainable energy. This achievement is not only a matter of pride for the university but also for the entire state, said Prof Singh. She noted that in previous years, Aligarh Muslim University, BHU and Allahabad University, had received this special honour.
