Patna: A woman, Somanti Devi (33), was allegedly killed by her husband Naresh Rai (45), at Hulasi Tola village in Maner police station area of Patna district on Friday. The body of the woman was found at the house with her ears and nose bleeding.
Naresh allegedly suspected his wife’s character and they frequently used to quarrel over this, police said.
Naresh fled from the house after the incident. The murder appears to have taken place due to a dispute between the couple. Somanti was the third wife of Naresh, and age gap between two led to dispute between the two, police said.
Both Dial-112 and the local police were informed about the incident. The body was taken into custody and sent for postmortem to Danapur Subdivision Hospital. Additionally, the Maner police informed the Patna forensic team, which arrived at the Hulasi Tola village and collected samples.
Maner SHO, Pradeep Kumar, said, “The police received information that a woman died under mysterious circumstances at Hulasi Tola village. When the police team arrived at the house, they found the woman’s body and her family members, including her husband, missing. It appears that the woman was strangled.”
The SHO said Naresh married Somanti after the death of his two previous wives. The couple used to have frequent quarrels as Naresh suspected his wife’s character due to her young age. Further investigation is going on, and raids are being carried out to nab Naresh, he added.
