Udupi: Udupi police on Saturday conducted the spot mahazar at the shop from where poison was purchased to plot the murder of Balakrishna,44, in Ajekar, Karkala taluk.
Udupi SP Arun K said that the investigation team collected details from the shop where Dileep Hegde, one of the accused in the murder case, purchased poison. Ajekar police arrested Prathima and her alleged lover, Dileep Hegde,28, of Karkala, on Friday, in connection with the murder of Balakrishna. While the main accused, Prathima, was sent to judicial custody till Nov 7, Dileep Hegde will be in police custody. Meanwhile, the postmortem on the body of Balakrishna was conducted at the KMC Hospital in Manipal, the SP said, adding that the report is yet to arrive.
Further, the police team also seized a car and a two-wheeler that the accused used for the offence. The mobile phones with SIM cards of the accused were also seized, the SP said.
It may be recalled that 36-year-old Prathima, who owns a beauty parlour, was charged with the murder of her husband, Balakrishna, 44, in Ajekar. According to police, on Oct 20, Prathima and Dileep allegedly mixed a poisonous substance into Balakrishna's food, and later strangled him to death. Initially, Prathima claimed that her husband died suddenly, but the truth was later revealed through an investigation by police.
