Lucknow: Gomtinagar police on Friday arrested another accused in the Shine City fraud, who used to bring clients for investment in a ‘scheme worth crore' from people across the state.
"The accused had been absconding for a long time, and a reward of Rs 50,000 was also announced for him," said ADCP East Zone Pankaj Kumar Singh. He added that the accused, Akram, cheated thousands of people in the name of plots and investments, along with other accomplices in the Shine City fraud, a case registered at Gomtinagar Police Station.
Gomtinagar SHO Rajesh Tripathi said that Mohammed Akram, a resident of Amethi, was arrested and that four cases were registered against him at Gomtinagar Police Station. "Akram was part of a team called Jaguar, where his role was to influence people to invest in the project," Tripathi said.
Earlier on Wednesday, the UP Special Task Force arrested one Rahul Sharma, a wanted accused who was an active member and resident of Rae Bareli in the gang involved in the Shine City fraud.
The CMD of the company, Rashid Naseem of Prayagraj, is absconding, and the UP government has announced a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh for his arrest.
The ED, which is also conducting a probe against the group, recently filed a chargesheet against Asif Naseem, Rashid Naseem, Amitabh Kumar Srivastava, Meera Srivastava, and 11 Shine City Group companies. The ED initiated its investigation based on approximately 554 FIRs lodged by the Uttar Pradesh Police against Rashid Naseem and the Shine City Group.
