Chennai: A 33-year-old auditor died by suicide, two days after a police complaint was lodged against him by one of his clients in Tiruvallur. Police said the deceased, Kumaraguru, 33, of Kakkalur, ran a firm in the locality. In 2022, a man named Premkumar of Kadambathur approached him seeking help to file GST for the firm.
On Thursday, Premkumar received a notice claiming that 27 lakh was outstanding against his name. Following this, Premkumar approached Kumaraguru seeking an explanation for the same, and Kumaraguru assured him that he would rectify the issue. Since Premkumar kept receiving notices repeatedly, he demanded that Kumaraguru pay him 10 lakh.
Premkumar lodged a police complaint against Kumaraguru alleging malpractices. While Kumaraguru filed a complaint against Premkumar of threatening him. Even before police called him for an inquiry, Kumaraguru ended his life by hanging. Tiruvallur Taluk Police have registered a case and are investigating.
