Devendra Fadnavis accuses Congress leaders of obstructing Maharashtra’s new "Ladki Bahin" scheme.
NAGPUR: Maharashtra's deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday accused Congress leaders, MPCC president Nana Patole and ex-minister Sunil Kedar, of obstructing the state’s new "Ladki Bahin" scheme for women.

Addressing BJP workers at Akashwani Square before filing his nomination for November 20 assembly election from Nagpur Southwest, Fadnavis condemned the alleged Opposition tactics, asserting these moves intend to block benefits for women, Dalits, OBCs, and tribal groups.
He assured BJP supporters that despite interference, the Mahayuti govt is resolute in its mission to uplift all citizens.
“The Opposition may resist these initiatives, but they cannot stop us. Our govt remains dedicated to offering free power, education, and resources to marginalized girls, OBCs, and other communities,” Fadnavis stated.

Emphasizing the administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, Fadnavis outlined initiatives like the "Swayam" scheme for Dalits, 54 new hostels for OBC students, and expanded educational programmes for girls. He hailed Vidarbha’s decade-long transformation under the Mahayuti govt, contrasting it with the previous Congress-NCP regime's record.
“With PM Narendra Modi’s vision of a new India, we are creating a new Maharashtra that fulfils all citizens’ aspirations," he said, spotlighting development projects including Nagpur’s Metro, new educational institutions, and industrial infrastructure, all made possible by the coalition’s efforts under Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Gadkari, speaking alongside Fadnavis, credited Nagpur’s growth to public support, with projects totalling over Rs 1 lakh crore completed over 10 years. He highlighted the city’s transformation and envisioned Nagpur as a future model for cleanliness and environmental sustainability, pointing to the MIHAN project and Samruddhi Mahamarg as indicators of regional progress.
Calling for continued support, Fadnavis urged the public to back the “Tigers of Mahayuti” in the coming elections referring to BJP MLAs from the city. He stressed that Nagpur’s achievements are built on the blessings of its citizens: “With your support, we’ll continue this journey. Without it, none of this would be possible,” he affirmed.
Fadnavis, Gadkari, and MLAs Krishna Khopde and Mohan Mate led a massive roadshow from Samvidhan Square to Akashwani Square, waving to thousands of enthusiastic party workers and supporters as they traveled atop a specially outfitted vehicle through city’s streets.
