Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Fireworks Sellers Association president Alvin Pinto stated that temporary fireworks sellers are conducting business amidst significant challenges during the Diwali season. He informed reporters on Friday, that the district administration granted permission for temporary fireworks sales in 72 locations across Dakshina Kannada.
He mentioned that temporary fireworks sales are allowed only on Oct 30, 31, and Nov 1, 2, as well as on the day of Tulsi Puja. Within the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits, permission has been granted to sell green fireworks at 13 grounds, including Nehru Maidan, APMC Baikampady, Urwa Cricket Ground, Kadri Cricket Ground, Krishnapura Paradise Ground, Attavar Nayak Ground, Padavu High School Ground, Bondel Cricket Ground, Pumpwell Bus Stand designated area, Shaktinagar Ground, Pachanadi Ground, Emmekere Ground, and Adarsha Yuvak Mandal Ground in Ganeshpura.
"Temporary fireworks sales will be conducted with full guidance from the fire and emergency department and permission from the district administration. Only green fireworks will be sold there with precautions, without any confusion. There is information about opposition to business in some areas, including Nehru Maidan. However, trade will be conducted for only four days beside the ground, so as not to inconvenience athletes," he said, expressing confidence that the public will cooperate everywhere.
The press conference was attended by Prakash M, secretary of the Dakshina Kannada District Fireworks Sellers Association, and treasurer Madhusudan.
