A Mohali court on Thursday sent the former Ferozepur Rural MLA and her nephew, Jaskeerat Singh, to one-day police custody.
The police demanded seven days of police remand, however, the court granted only one day.
The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Punjab Police on Wednesday apprehended both the accused from near Sunny Enclave in Kharar, while they were allegedly attempting to sell 100 grams of heroin .
Jaskeerat Singh, a resident of Behbal Khurd village in Ferozepur, was driving the car, while Satkar Kaur, who served as an MLA from Ferozepur Rural constituency from 2017 to 2022, was accompanying him.
A subsequent search of the former MLA’s house led to the recovery of 28 grams of heroin, taking the total seizure to 128 grams. Cops also seized Rs 1.56 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, and several car registration number plates from Haryana and Delhi. Four vehicles, including a Toyota Fortuner, BMW, Hyundai Verna, and Chevrolet, were impounded.
The counsels for the ex-MLA argued that their client had been framed in the case.
