Ranchi: RJD submitted a list of 40 star campaigners for the assembly election in Jharkhand to the Election Comission of India.
The list includes party supremo Lalu Prasad, leader of the opposition in Bihar assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, and former minister Tej Pratap. MPs Surindra Yadav and Abhay Kushwaha, MLA Abdul Bari Siddiqui, and minister Satyanand Bhokta.
RJD formed a 19-member election campaign committee at the state level with general secretary Kailash Yadav as its in-charge.It would form panels for seats, where it is contesting the election. So far, the party has announced a list of candidates for six seats.
RJD spokesman Manoj Yadav said, “Several star campaigners and campaign committee members are on the field to mobilise support for the party candidates. The leaders will start a planned campaign after the last date of withdrawal of nomination.”
Meanwhile, CPM submitted its list of 17 leaders, including politburo member Brinda Karat, as star campaigners to the Election Comission of India.
CPM is contesting nine seats in the Jharkhand assembly polls.
