Patil, formerly a scientific officer and Sarpanch, says issues like women's empowerment and infrastructure need addressing. She is contesting due to voter insistence.
KALYAN: A local senior BJP leader, Sneha Patil, rebelled and filed a form as an independent candidate against the Shiv Sena candidate from the Bhiwandi rural seat.
This seat went in Shiv Sena's favour in the seat allocation in the Mahayuti. Sneha Patil, who was interested in contesting from this seat on a BJP ticket, rebelled and filed an independent form after BJP did not get the seat.
Patil, who is a former Sarpanch of Kalher, is a computer engineer by profession.She worked as a Scientific Officer at the Kalina Forensic Laboratory. On Thursday, she filed her nomination amid a heavy crowd of supporters.
From this seat, Shantaram More is a two-time MLA of Shiv Sena, whom Shiv Sena has repeated this time. Patil said, "Various issues, including those of women in Bhiwandi rural areas, were not effectively raised in the assembly. There is no drinking water in villages and remote areas of the taluka, and the condition of many roads is deplorable. Women empowerment is necessary to get permanent employment for women in the taluk."
Sneha Patil said that she is contesting the elections at the insistence of the voters, as various issues in the taluka are being neglected.
