Panaji:Konkani filmSaavat’ directed by Shivam Harmalkar and Santosh Shetkar is one of the 20 non-feature films selected for screening at the 55th International Film Festival of India (Iffi), which will be hosted in Goa from Nov 20 to 28, 2024. The film made it to the Iffi section from among 262 from across the country in various languages.
The Indian Panorama section also showcases 25 feature films (including five mainstream films) from 384 entries this year. The Indian Panorama feature section will open with the Hindi feature film ‘Swatantrya Veer Savarkar’ directed by Randeep Hooda. The non-feature film section will open with ‘Ghar Jaisa Kuch (Ladakhi)’, directed by Harsh Sangani. The feature film section this year will also showcase a film in Galo, a Tibeto-Burman language spoken by the Galo people of Arunachal Pradesh. The features section will screen three Marathi films ‘Gypsy’, ‘Gharat Ganapati’ and ‘Raavsaheb’; three Bengali films ‘Aamar Boss’, ‘Bhootpori’, and ‘Onko Ki Kothin’; three Malayalam films ‘Aadujeevitham’, ‘Bramayugam’ and ‘Level Cross’; two Kannada films ‘Kerebete’ and ‘Venkya’; two Assamese films ‘Juiphool’ and ‘Rador pakhi’; one Tamil film ‘Jigarthanda Double X’ and one Telugu film ‘35 Chinna Katha Kaadu’. Three Hindi films ‘Srikanth’, ‘Article 370’, and ‘Mahavatar Narsimha’ are the other three to be screened at Iffi other than the opening film.
Popular films like ‘Kalki’, ‘Manjummel Boys’ and ‘12th Fail’ will also be screened. In the non-feature film section, seven Hindi films will be screened, along side two Tamil, one Garo, one Rajasthani, one Haryanvi, a Punjabi, an English, one Oriya, Bengali, and Marathi film.
