Hundert: Bill has earned his final mayoral term

I moved to this valley in 1975 as a young journalist. The one constant I can report, of which we can be certain, is change. Every leader has been faced with making decisions that guide changes here to a reasonable way forward. I prefer candidates who both identify our challenges and offer constructive solutions. Growth is inevitable, requiring exceptional stewardship. Snowmass deserves leaders who listen and are critical thinkers who develop solutions to challenges and uncover ways to leverage opportunities.

I like Bill Madsen’s vision to maintain a balanced, cohesive community where all roles, interests, and voices are valued, where change is managed with a long-term view of impacts. His support for the Draw Site housing project is an example of commitment to employees being “in the huddle,” part of our community. The need for employee housing will continue to grow, the development time will remain long, requiring us to accelerate and consider all options, from Krablooknik to The Wildwood, the Draw to The Center.

I’m voting to re-elect Madsen as our mayor because he has developed a forward-thinking vision as a born-and-raised lifelong worker in this community who understands and treasures its resources, tranquility, family values, neighborliness … and the importance of high-quality services. His thoughtful leadership and strong working relationship with the town manager have helped guide Snowmass through change with a sense of balance and pragmatism. As a fellow board member on the Bob Beattie Ski Foundation, I’ve seen firsthand Bill’s creativity and reasonability in making a positive impact for the children of our community. I’m demanding of our public officials and I believe Bill has earned his final term as our mayor.

Plus, no one tops Bill to lead you to hidden powder stashes or adventurous mountain biking!
