Ahmedabad: A land broker from the Satellite area filed a complaint against a money lender and his aide on Wednesday for allegedly confining him in a hotel room on SG Road, assaulting him and demanding Rs 5 crore from him at gunpoint.
In his FIR, Indravijaysinh Chauhan, a resident of Jodhpur area in the city, stated that he had met the accused, Sunil Gadhvi, a resident of Bodakdev area, in 2023.
Chauhan said that his friend, Milan Panchal, had introduced him to Gadhvi when he was in need of money for a construction project. Chauhan borrowed Rs 60 lakh from Gadhvi at 10% monthly interest. Chauhan stated in the FIR that even though he had repaid Rs 1.21 crore the same year, Gadhvi kept demanding more money.
On Oct 12, Gadhvi called up Chauhan, asking him to come to a hotel on SG Road. Chauhan reached the hotel room where Gadhvi was present with eight others, including a man named Chirag, Chauhan stated in the complaint.
He alleged that Gadhvi began beating him while Chirag pointed a revolver at him and demanded money. Chauhan alleged that he was confined in the room for an entire night and released on the morning of Oct 13.
Vastrapur police registered a complaint of causing hurt, criminal intimidation, illegal confinement, and abetment against Gadhvi and Chirag.
