A delegation from Tamil Nadu led Tidco MD Sandeep Nanduri visited key Fraunhofer facilities in Germany and the Netherlands in July.
CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) has collaborated with Germany-based Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT) for advancing TN’s innovation and knowledge ecosystem.
Through this partnership, Tidco seeks to integrate global best practices and drive the implementation of innovation clusters like university research parks, centres of excellence (CoEs) and knowledge city-like initiatives in the state.
The first phase will focus on a comprehensive state-wide analysis of key industry segments, technologies and potential Industry 4.0 use cases.
Tidco, Fraunhofer and Guidance Tamil Nadu will work closely to identify optimal operational models, strategic locations for setting up Industry 4.0 centres and opportunities for collaboration among the CoEs in the state. A position paper will be developed to outline a roadmap for establishing research parks and knowledge ecosystems, Tidco said in a statement on Thursday.
Speaking on the collaboration, state industries minister T R B Rajaa said, "These initiatives will empower our youth to engage in cutting-edge sectors like R&D, AI, quantum computing and advanced manufacturing, thus fostering a sustainable, future-ready economy. The synergy between academic research and industry will drive both economic growth and technological leadership for the state.”
TIDCO MD Sandeep Nanduri said, "This project aligns with our vision to position Tamil Nadu as a global leader in innovation and knowledge development. By integrating Fraunhofer’s cutting-edge expertise with Tamil Nadu’s rich industrial base, we are confident in our ability to create a robust, sustainable innovation ecosystem."
