Daltonganj: Assam chief minister and co-election in-charge of the BJP in Jharkhand, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that Hussainabad sub-division in Palamu district will be made a district, if the party comes to power, and it will be named after Lord Ram or Krishna.
Sarma was addressing an election rally at Anumandal ground seeking votes for the party’s Hussainabad candidate Kamlesh Singh.
Singh, who was Jharkhand's sole Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator, joined the BJP on October 4.
The Assam chief minister also spoke about the changing demography in Jharkhand due to Bangladeshi infiltration.
“Driving out infiltrators is BJP's priority. We will implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) to drive out Bangladesh infiltrators from Jharkhand,” he said.
Singh, however, is facing resistance from his own party leaders.
A very senior BJP leader, Vinod Singh, said, “I am going to file nomination for this seat as an Independent on October 24. I don't care what the BJP will do against me."
Polling to the 81-member Jharkhand assembly will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20, and votes will be counted on November 23.
