Coimbatore: In a surprise inspection at the office of the assistant director of the Local Planning Authority at Cheranmaa Nagar in the city, sleuths of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) seized ₹3.96 lakh in unaccounted money on Wednesday.
A team, led by additional deputy superintendent of police M P Dhivya, conducted a surprise check at the office and seized ₹3.96 lakh of unaccounted cash from the office staff.
In a similar operation, a DVAC team conducted a surprise inspection at the outgoing check post in KG Chavadi near Coimbatore. The team seized ₹1.01 lakh in unaccounted money from motor vehicle inspector Burhanuddin, assistant Eawaran, and office assistant Thangaraj.
