Patna: An 18-year-old youth was found hanging in a Samastipur village on Wednesday at the house of a girl in his neighbourhood, with whom he was in a relationship. Deceased Shivam Kumar’s family alleged he was strangled by the girl’s relatives before being hanged from the ceiling, police said. The girl’s father and brother were detained for interrogation, said SHO of the local police station, Anand Kashyap.
“The family members of Kumar, who had passed his intermediate exams this year, have filed a written complaint against the girl’s relatives.His grandfather Ramashray Jha stated in his complaint that around 10pm on Tuesday, when he woke up, he found Kumar missing from his room. Early on Wednesday morning, police informed them that his grandson's body was found hanging at the neighbour's place.”
According to Jha’s complaint, his grandson and the girl studied together. “A few days ago, the girl's father threatened to kill Shivam after he came to know about their relationship. We had been trying to persuade him to break his relationship with the girl. On Tuesday night, Shivam was called to her home under a conspiracy and was murdered,” Jha alleged in his police statement.
The SHO said a forensic team visited the spot and collected samples, including the cotton ‘dupatta’ used for hanging. “The body has been sent for an autopsy at sadar hospital. We are waiting for the reports to ascertain the real cause of death. Further investigation is going on,” he said.
