Kolkata: Kerala’s star batter Sanju Samson opted out of the team’s next Ranji Trophy match against Bengal starting in Jadavpur University second campus ground in Salt Lake on Saturday.
It is learnt that the 29-year-old will undergo treatment for a mucous cyst that developed in his mouth, which has been bothering him for some time.
Meanwhile keeping in view the approaching cyclone that is likely to hit the city this week, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) wrote to BCCI secretary Jay Shah to postpone the game by a day.
However, the BCCI rejected the request citing scheduling problem for the next round of matches.
Bengal and Kerala will be eager to have a full match this time after both of them’s last matches were affected by rain.TNN
