Hyderabad: Tragedy struck when an Intermediate student fell to his death from the fifth floor of a corporate college hostel building in Madhapur while trying to sneak out of the hostel through a window that had no grills. Three other boys who also attempted to make their way out through the window escaped unhurt.
"It was found that the boys tried to sneak out of the building, but the purpose is being investigated," said D Krishna Mohan, Madhapur SHO.
After the night study hours, all the students went to their rooms at 10 pm on Tuesday to sleep. Around 12:30 am on the intervening night of Tuesday-Wednesday, the deceased student and his friends tried to sneak out through the window.
In the process, he slipped and landed on the ground below in an adjacent construction site. Seeing this, his friends climbed using sunshades and sewage pipes to check on the deceased. They then climbed back in the same manner and informed the college staff.
Police were called in and the student was rushed to a nearby hospital where he died while undergoing treatment a couple of hours later.
The deceased, 17, hailing from Kadapa, was studying MPC second year in the college. He along with his three friends was residing on the fifth floor of the hostel building.
On a complaint from the boy's uncle, a case was registered.
