Apple has released the first developer beta of iOS 18.2, bringing a wave of new Apple Intelligence features for developers to explore. This comes a few days ahead of the stable rollout of the iOS 18.1 that will initially offer Apple Intelligence features only for US English users. Importantly, iOS 18.2 expands availability to more English-speaking regions, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and the United Kingdom.
According to a report by 9to5mac, users outside these regions who want to explore these features can experience Apple Intelligence features by changing their device language to a supported option. It is to be noted that Apple Intelligence remains disabled in China and the EU due to regulatory restrictions.

New Apple Intelligence features coming to supported iPhones with iOS 18.2 beta

The iOS 18.2 beta introduces several additions to the Apple Intelligence suite that were rolled out with the iOS 18.1 beta, including Writing Tools, Siri updates, Clean Up and Memory Movies in Photos, notification summaries, priority messages in Mail and transcription summaries for phone calls. The new features include:
Image generation: This update brings creative image generation capabilities with features like Image Playground, Image Wand and Genmoji. Image Playground allows users to generate custom images from text prompts and themes in a cartoon style. Image Wand can transform rough sketches into rendered images. Genmoji enables users to create personalised emoji for sharing in messages.
Enhanced writing tools: Writing Tools receive a boost with a new "Describe your change" text field for freeform text requests and integration with ChatGPT for advanced composition assistance.
Siri with ChatGPT: Siri can now leverage ChatGPT's capabilities for complex requests, such as creating itineraries, by accessing its own database.
Visual intelligence (iPhone 16 series only): iPhone 16 series users gain access to Visual Intelligence, a feature that allows them to quickly learn more about objects or scenes by snapping a photo using a new viewfinder accessible from the lock screen.
These features are also available in the betas of macOS 15.2 and iPadOS 18.2 for developers to test.
