Chandigarh: Led by chief minister Bhagwant Mann and Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leadership on Wednesday discussed its campaign strategy for the upcoming four byelections. They urged party leaders to emphasize the initiatives of the AAP govt at the grassroots level by engaging with voters in villages and addressing local issues.
The campaign would include roadshows and public meetings by Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
After the meeting, Pathak, AAP’s national general secretary, said, “It has been decided that the party workers would hit the grassroot level to highlight the developmental initiatives taken by the CM Mann-led govt over the past 2.5 years. We are confident that based on that, people will vote for the AAP candidates.”
When asked about AAP’s campaign strategy, Pathak said, “We will raise people’s issues as part of our campaign; that will be our party’s agenda. This is the most effective model for an election campaign. Arvind Kejriwal will come to support the candidates. We will hold also roadshows and public meetings.”
Hitting out at the BJP-led central govt, Pathak accused the party of playing “dirty politics” by not lifting food grains from the grain markets, thereby, troubling the farmers. “The state govt will find a way to ensure paddy lifting in a couple of days,” he said.
Taking on the opposition parties, Pathak said Congress had lost its traditional strongholds in the recent elections and the same would happen in the four bypolls. “People have given a chance to these parties repeatedly, but now the Mann govt is trying its best to deliver on all fronts.”
Mann said he was confident that AAP would win all the upcoming byelections.
AAP candidates for the byelections were also present at the meeting.
