Mumbai: Former city president of All India Majlis-e-Ittihadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Faiyyaz Ahmed, who quit the party recently, rejoined it on Tuesday in the presence of party leader Akbaruddin Owaisi in Hyderabad.
Ahmed is expected to contest from the Byculla seat, which Advocate Waris Pathan won in 2014. It was won by Yamini Jadhav of the Shiv Sena in 2019. Now, Jadhav is the Shiv Sena candidate from this seat."Since Faiyyaz Ahmed is a local leader and has some influence in the community, he may cut into the MVA votes, making it easier for Yamini to retain this seat," said an observer.
AIMIM city president Raiees Lashkaria rejected the talk of his party candidates cutting secular votes. "Why don't people say how MNS candidates will dent the votes of Uddhav Sena? The accusation of us being the B team of the BJP is baseless," said Lashkaria, who will file his nomination from the Versova seat on Oct 26. Mohammed Wajihuddin
