Ahmedabad: Burglars targeted a shop in the Manek Chowk locality of the Walled City and stole gold and cash totalling Rs 52 lakh on Wednesday night.
Jaydeep Soni, a gold artisan who owns the shop, lodged a complaint with the Khadia police on Thursday in this regard.
Soni, a 30-year-old resident of Nirnaynagar, told police that he along with his father, Suresh, and Vikky Soni work as gold artisans from the shop in Sankdi Sheri.According to his complaint, Soni had locked his shop around midnight on Wednesday. When his labourers opened the shop the next morning, they found it had been burgled.
He told police that the burglars had come through the washroom after cutting open the grill of the window there. The burglars allegedly stole six gold bars weighing 100g each. These were valued at Rs 48.36 lakh. The thieves also stole Rs 4 lakh in cash, the complaint stated.
