Jaipur: Rajasthan's challenge ended in the 36th Sub Junior (U-15 & 17) National Badminton Championships 2024 being played at Chennai on Thursday. Two Rajasthan doubles pairs lost in their respective semi-finals and settled with a bronze medal each.
In the U-15 boys doubles, eighth seeds Anshuman Choudhary and Harman Pandit went down fighting against Shahid Ibrahim Peer Ahamed Buhari and Adhav Surya 21-23, 16-21 in an exciting semi.
The Rajasthan duo started well but lost the extended first game by a whisker. The seventh seeds Tamil Nadu pair was in control in the second game and sealed the fate of Anshuman-Harman in straight games.
The top seeded pair in the U-17 mixed doubles, Arnav Sharma (Rajasthan) and Dianka Waldia (Delhi) was upset by fifth seeds Amarjit Singh Khwairakpam (Manipur) and Nandita Thomas (Kerala) 14-21, 18-21 in the semis. The other Rajasthan shuttlers including Indian team player Parul Choudhary crashed out in the earlier rounds. The finals of the six-day annual Nationals will be played on Friday. tnn
