Bhopal: Ahead of Diwali, this could be music to the city's ears. Bhopal police commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra has committed that the ban on loud amplified sound and DJ vans will remain in effect.
City residents have often experienced a feeling of Déjà vu with such announcements and bans.
There is a common perception that they've heard of such measures time and again and they tend to revert to the "same old, same old" practices over time.
But this time around, Bhopal top cop says "Ban on loud amplified sound and DJ music is permanent." Police are already taking legal action against over 90 DJ vehicles violating the ban.
Further action will also be taken against marriage hall and marriage garden operators who offer any packages in violation of guidelines, he said. ‘Band, Baja and Baraat' will remain unaffected. But a reduced level of noise pollution wlll help in ensuring a peaceful and safer environment for all city residents.
Eight days after a 13-year-old allegedly died on Oct 14, when the child came in close contact with a moving DJ van, the incident has led to the recent enforcement of a ban on such vehicles.
The DJ van involved was deemed illegal due to the number of loudspeakers, amplified sound, mixers, and extensive body modifications.
