Panchkula: A 32-year-old home guard was killed when a speeding truck allegedly hit his bike near the Chandimandir toll plaza on Monday evening. The victim, Sandeep Singh, a resident of Chandi Mandir, was immediately rushed to Sector 6 Civil Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
According to his wife Pooja’s statement, Sandeep was on his way from Chuna Bhatti, Chandimandir, towards Panchkula on his bike.At about 9:30 pm, she received a call from Naresh Kumar, a fellow home guard, informing her that Sandeep had been involved in an accident. Naresh stated that a truck had collided with Sandeep’s motorcycle.
She alleged that the truck driver was driving recklessly, carelessly, and at high speed. Sandeep Singh is survived by his wife and their two children. The police has nabbed truck driver Sukhvinder Singh (37), a resident of Solan, after tracing his vehicle. According to the police investigation, Sukhvinder Singh was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. His medical examination was conducted at Civil Hospital, Sector 6.
An FIR under Sections 106, 281, and 324 (4) of the BNS has been registered.
