Chennai: Madras high court on Wednesday dismissed a plea moved by a cyber security activist seeking a probe into an alleged security breach and data leak from Star Health Insurance.
Justice M Dhandapani dismissed the plea since a civil suit moved by the insurance firm on the issue is already pending before the court.
Himanshu Pathak had moved the court flagging a vulnerability in the security system and possible illegal access to the company's data.He wanted the Union govt to take action based on his representation.
Meanwhile, on Oct 9, the company reported a malicious cyber attack that resulted in unauthorised and illegal access to its data. The Union govt contended that the petitioner should have sought a remedy before the civil court or approached the IRDAI, which was the appropriate authority. tnn
