The Mumbai Crime Branch arrested Amit Hisamsing Kumar in the Baba Siddique firing case. This arrest brings the total to 11. Earlier, Bhagwant Omsingh was also arrested for aiding the shooters.
NEW DELHI: The Mumbai crime branch arrested Amit Hisamsing Kumar, 29, on Monday in connection with the Baba Siddique firing case, raising the total number of arrests to 11.
Kumar, a resident of Nathwan Patti near Goga Madi Temple in Haryana, was apprehended on October 23, 2024. The arrest follows a comprehensive investigation registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
He is accomplice of Zeeshan Akhtar, common link between Gurnail and Zeeshan.
Key accused arrested earlier
The Anti-Extortion Cell arrested Bhagwant Omsingh, 32, a scrap shop owner in Belapur, Navi Mumbai, on Sunday.He is accused of playing a significant role in aiding the shooters involved in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique. Omsingh was remanded to police custody until October 26, with public prosecutor Randdhir Yelaave stating that he provided shelter to the shooters and facilitated their transport of weapons.
Yelaave revealed that the gang supplied three firearms—a Turkish pistol, an Australian pistol, and a country-made weapon—to the shooters responsible for the assassination. Investigations are ongoing to trace the financial aspects of the crime and the sources of the weapons.
In the last week alone, police have arrested 10 individuals linked to the case, including the two shooters, Gurmail Singh and Dharmaraj Kashyap. The prime shooter, Shivkumar Gautam, remains at large.
Authorities suspect a connection to the Bishnoi gang, given the commonality in the scrap business among the arrested suspects.
