Chennai: A drunk couple who were arrested on Monday after their abusive behaviour and intimidation directed at police on Sunday night went viral, were remanded in judicial custody and housed at the central prison in Puzhal on Tuesday.
A video clip of the couple badmouthing and driving menacingly at the policemen on duty on Loop Road went viral on social media on Monday.
Police arrested Chandra Mohan, 42, and Dhanalakshmi, 41, from a hotel room in Thoraipakkam, where they had checked in by submitting fake identity documents.
Soon after their arrest, another video of the couple picking up a quarrel with another policeman on Marina Beach a few days ago surfaced on Tuesday.
The arrested couple, who were detained at the Mylapore police station for questioning, were taken to Govt General Hospital for medical examinations. They were then taken to the magistrate's house early on Tuesday for remand formalities.
