Kanpur: A quack allegedly raped a minor girl, leading to her pregnancy, in Colonelganj police station area of the city.
The rape survivor informed her family about it, after which they filed a complaint. Police arrested the accused from his clinic and an FIR was filed based on a complaint lodged by the girl's uncle. A medical examination of the minor girl was later conducted.According to the FIR, the girl's grandmother, resident of a colony under Chamanganj police station area, alleged that her 17-year-old granddaughter lived with her and worked as an assistant at the clinic run by the accused, Wasim, 50, near Chhote Miya's Hata. The girl told her grandmother on Wednesday that Wasim sexually assaulted her 20 days ago. "The girl's uncle made a serious allegation that on Tuesday night, the accused doctor planned to kill his niece and even visited their house."
The accused allegedly threatened and intimidated the girl, warning her of defamation if she told anyone about the incident. The grandmother claimed that the quack's actions caused distress to her granddaughter.Colonelganj police station in-charge Ravindra Srivastava said an FIR was registered against Wasim under charges of rape, Pocso Act, issuing threats and other sections and he was arrested.
DCP (Central) Dinesh Tripathi said a report was filed against the quack based on the complaint and he was arrested. "The girl has undergone medical examination and her statement will be recorded before a magistrate," the DCP added.
