Jaipur: Acting on the court's direction, the Bani Park police station on Monday filed an FIR five months after the death of a 23-year-old girl.
The police said that the FIR was filed on Monday through a court complaint, in which the family claims that their daughter, Riya Saini, was poisoned at her institute's canteen..
According to the FIR, Riya Saini had enrolled in a paramedical institute for training. On April 30, she went to the institute as usual. The FIR states that at 5 PM that day, she called her mother, pleading for help and asking her to save her. When her mother called back, someone answered and informed her to come to the metro railway station because Riya's condition was serious. Upon arrival, the mother was told that Riya had been taken to a hospital in Bani Park.
Riya's mother alleged that when she reached the hospital, she was informed that her daughter had died due to poisoning and her body had been transferred to SMS Hospital. The FIR claims that when the family reached SMS Hospital, doctors said that Riya's body had turned blue, indicating poisoning. After the post-mortem, the family conducted her funeral on May 1.
The family raised concerns about suspicious events surrounding Riya's death. They noted that two boys had taken her to hospital from the metro station and then fled the hospital premises. The complaint also accuses police of not taking action after initially filing an inquest, and alleges that when the family approached Bani Park police station in May, their complaint was not registered. The FIR also claims that when the family visited the institute, they were threatened by its staff.
