Ranchi: The Jharkhand high court on Tuesday issued notices to the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) and the state govt in a PIL seeking a CBI probe into the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (JSSC CGL) paper leak episode.
A division bench of Chief Justice M S Ramachandra Rao and Justice Deepak Roshan were hearing a public interest litigation filed by one Prakash Kumar and others who had questioned the probe conducted by the police after the questions of the JSSC CGL exams were leaked during January this year.
The JSSC had conducted the JSSC CGL exam 2023 on January 28, 2024 in the state. The Commission cancelled the third paper of general knowledge after the question paper was leaked. There was a huge furore among the candidates after which other three papers were also cancelled. As many as 6,50,000 candidates had filled up forms to appear in the examination for appointment of 2025 posts in different departments of the govt.
After the leak was published, a special investigation team was constituted to investigate the matter. Thereafter the next exam conducted by the Commission on September 21 and 22nd was also marred by leak of questions before the exams.
An FIR was also lodged in this matter but no action has been taken.
Arguing on behalf of the petitioner, senior advocate and former advocate general Ajit Kumar said that the fate of students has been adversely affected and yet the govt has not taken any steps to nab the culprits in the matter. The case will again be heard on December 3.
