Mysuru: A leopard walked straight into a trap laid by the forest department in HD Kote on Tuesday. This is the fourth big cat trapped in the town in just over a month.
Deputy conservator of forests KN Basavaraj informed that so far they rescued four leopards in the last six weeks. "People in HD Kote town are complaining about another big cat, a mother, still roaming in the vicinity.If we receive any complaint, action will be taken to set the cage to trap it," he said.
The leopard was caught near the town's Housing Board Colony. There was a complaint from the residents about the movement of big cats and a trap was set by the forest department staff.
A male cat, aged about six years, was captured and the department will take steps to release it back into the woods after examining its health. There is suspicion of more leopards being present.
