Varanasi: An 18-year-old boy, Dheeraj, was beaten to death by the relatives of his girlfriend when he went to meet her in Balua area of Chandauli district on Monday night.
Inspector Balua Ashish Mishra said on Tuesday that three accused have been arrested in this connection. Meanwhile, Dheeraj's body has been sent for post-mortem examination. During initial police investigation, it came to light that Dheeraj, a class 12 student and a native of Hridaypur village under Balua police station, was in a relationship with a girl from his own community.However, family members of the girl, a Class 9 student, were against their relationship and sent her to her maternal grandparents' house in Phulwaria. On Monday night, Dheeraj went there to meet her, when the girl's relatives caught and thrashed him brutally. Upon receiving information, police reached the scene and rushed the injured boy to hospital, where he died during treatment.
Based on the complaint lodged by the deceased's family, police registered an FIR and arrested three accused.
