JAIPUR: Sanskrit education minister Madan Dilawar on Monday said the department should work towards making uniforms in Sanskrit schools as per Indian tradition.
Dilawar was in Bikaner to inaugurate the newly constructed building of a govt Sanskrit school. In Rajasthan, there are 1,809 Sanskrit govt schools and 51 govt Sanskrit colleges.
"We have instructed the Sanskrit education department to work with experts from the field to design a uniform which is apt for Sanskrit education, for both schools and colleges, depicting Indian traditions.I have also asked the department to work towards establishing Adarsh Veda Vidyalayas at the divisional level in the entire Rajasthan," said Dilawar.
The minister also announced that the ‘Jyotish Karmakand' course—an in-depth study of Hindu rituals and philosophy—should be mandatorily taught in Sanskrit schools and colleges.
The course focuses on rites, ceremonies, responsibilities detailed in ancient Hindu scriptures, including the Vedas.
Officials said the Veda Vidyalaya in Bikaner has had many former students recruited as junior commissioned officers (religious teachers) in the Indian Army.
"There is a need for Vedic Gurukul Ashrams for the revival of Indian culture in the present era," added Dilawar.
