12 km elevated road of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway nears completion

The 12 km long elevated road section of the Delhi Dehradun Expressway is almost complete. The journey of the elevated road will also be special because it is passing through the dense forest of Rajaji Tiger Reserve and Shivalik Forest Division. Drivers are looking eager for this journey through the green cover. However, due to some work remaining in the final phase, it will be opened for highway vehicles in December 2024.
The Project Director Office of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) located in Dehradun is engaged in making the elevated road perfect. Currently, along with signage, work is being done to install cameras and incident detection systems under the Advanced Traffic Management System. At the same time, after laying the slab on the elevated road, the painting work on the road was also completed last Sunday.
Distance to Delhi reduced by 23 km
The last part of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway project is this elevated road, the Datakali tunnel attached to it and the flyover built till the RTO checkpost. All these three works have been completed. Currently, the distance between Delhi and Dehradun is 236 km, which will be reduced to 213 km after the completion of all the packages of the project. That is, the distance will be reduced by 23 km and this journey can be completed in two and a half hours.
Cameras will measure speed on the elevated road, challan will be issued online
Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) will be arranged to keep the speed lovers under control on the elevated road. Through this, cameras will keep an eye on the speed and if the speed is found to be more than the set standard, a challan will be issued online.
Information of the accident will automatically reach the control room
Video Incident Detection System (VIDS) will be installed on the elevated road. Which will automatically send information to the control room in case of a road accident. So that relief and rescue work can be done on time. This work will also be completed by December.
