University Of Mumbai Reschedules Exams For Distance Learning Programs Due To Elections

Mumbai, 22nd October 2024: The University of Mumbai has announced changes to the exam schedule for its distance and online learning programs due to the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra. The exam initially set for November 19 will now take place on November 30, while the exam originally planned for November 20 has been postponed to December 7.

According to the official notification, “In light of various Winter 2024 examinations, the Director of the Institute of Distance & Open Learning, along with the Principals of affiliated Colleges in Arts, Commerce & Management, and Science & Technology, are hereby informed that the papers scheduled for November 19 and 20, 2024, have been rescheduled due to the Assembly Elections in Maharashtra and will now occur on the revised dates.”

Courses Offered

BA (FY, SY, TY): A three-year degree program that includes study materials covering subjects like History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Commerce, Education, Marathi, Hindi, and English.

B.Com (FY, SY, TY): A three-year degree program that also includes study materials. The third-year BCom covers the Accounts Group and Management Group.

BSc (Information Technology): A three-year degree program consisting of six semesters.

BSc (Computer Science): A three-year degree program.

BSc (Nautical Technology): A three-year degree program.

MA: A two-year postgraduate program that includes subjects like Sociology, History, Economics, Politics, Philosophy, and various languages (Hindi, Marathi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Gujarati, etc.).

MA (Education): A two-year postgraduate program.

MCom: A two-year postgraduate program with study materials that covers the Accounts and Management Group.

MA/MSc (Mathematics): A two-year postgraduate program (without study materials).

MSc (Information Technology): A two-year degree program.

MSc (Computer Science): A two-year degree program.

MCA (Master of Computer Applications): A three-year degree program consisting of six semesters.

Post Graduate Diploma in Management: A two-year program with study materials.

The Distance and Open Learning initiative is designed to support learners who are separated from educational institutions due to various economic or social factors. To address this need, the University of Mumbai established the Directorate of Correspondence Courses in 1971-72, which was later upgraded to the ‘Institute of Distance Education’ in 1993, becoming a recognized entity within the university system.
