BJP leaders and workers protest against Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of misusing public funds for personal luxuries at his official residence. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva alleges that Kejriwal installed 15 expensive toilet seats, costing Rs 12 lakhs, which are now missing. The AAP has not responded to these allegations.
NEW DELHII: BJP leaders and workers held protests across New Delhi accusing Arvind Kejriwal of improperly using taxpayers' money for personal comfort during his time as Delhi chief minister.
The protests focused on allegations that Kejriwal spent a significant amount of money on luxurious items and facilities at his official residence on 6 Flagstaff Road.
During a demonstration near Kejriwal's current residence on Firozshah Road, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva claimed, "We are protesting to tell people how Kejriwal spent taxpayers money on toilet seats worth Rs 12 lakhs.Fifteen such toilet seats were stolen."
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has not commented on the matter, but chief minister Atishi previously stated that if needed, the BJP could take over the Flagstaff Road bungalow and that she would continue to work for the people of Delhi even if she had to do so from the street.
Sachdeva stressed, "Arvind Kejriwal will have to give an account of the crores of rupees from the taxpayers' money spent on providing him a luxurious stay at the Sheeshmahal."
Alka Gurjar, co-incharge of Delhi BJP, also highlighted the significance of the issue, saying it directly impacts taxpayers and that AAP shouldn't be allowed to misuse public funds.
