Woman forest guard on lion patrolling duty assaulted by ex-sarpanch
Rajkot: A woman forest guard on a night duty of patrolling areas having lions' movement was badly thrashed by a former sarpanch after an altercation over collision of bikes turned violent in a village of Amreli district.
The forest guard Asha Chudasama (28) and the ex-sarpanch filed complaints against each other at the Dungar police station of Rajula taluka on Monday.

Chudasama suffered fractures in the hand and leg and five stitches in the head, and she is recuperating at a hospital in Mahuva town of Bhavnagar district.
In her complaint, Chudasama said she was on a patrolling duty as part of routine lion observation during the night and was moving in her beat (assigned areas) on the govt bike. She overtook Lakhrontra's bike near Nesdi village at around 10.30pm. She alleged that he overtook her bike and started driving in the middle of the road, obstructing her vehicle. When Chudasama asked him to drive properly, he started hurling abusive words.
When she reached Nesdi a few minutes later, Lakhrontra intercepted the bike by blocking her way and allegedly assaulted her with an iron pipe. He also hit her on the hand and leg, causing her to fall on the road.
As she screamed for help, people gathered and she also managed to call her colleagues. They first took her to a nearby hospital in a tractor, informed an ambulance, and then to Mahuva.
Lakhrontra, on the other hand, filed a counter-complaint, claiming that Chudasama had to apply a sudden brake when he turned his bike near his house, causing her vehicle to slip. He alleged that she became angry, verbally abused him, and attacked him with an iron pipe, resulting in injuries to his head and hand, after which he lost consciousness A farm labourer for Lakhronta took him to a private hospital in Mahuva.
