Fire in leather factory; short circuit suspected
Kanpur: A major fire broke out in a leather factory situated in Ruma Industrial area, Kulgaon, on Sunday afternoon.
Witnessing intense flames and plumes of smoke billowing from the factory, a sense of panic pervaded the nearby establishments. Firefighters, alerted by the vigilant guards and workers, succeeded in containing the inferno after an arduous effort.

Kulgaon outpost in-charge Pradeep Kumar recounted that at approximately 2.30pm, flames and smoke abruptly began emanating from the factory, prompting guards and workers from adjacent factories to promptly notify both the police and the fire department stationed in the industrial area. Subsequently, the factory owner, Vishal Agarwal, was apprised of the incident.
Firefighters arrived expeditiously and managed to subdue the conflagration with concerted effort. A substantial quantity of goods was salvaged. The factory owner affirmed the significant damage wrought by the fire but conceded the impossibility of providing a precise account of the losses. Furthermore, the cause of the fire remains unknown, although a short circuit is the suspected.
