NEW DELHI:
Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), announced on Monday that he and his family will be visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine.
Taking to social media platform X, Kejriwal stated, "Chalo bulawa aaya hai, Mata ne bulaya hai (Come on, we have been called; Mother (Goddess Vaishno Devi) has called us)."
"May you and your family be happy and content.
I am going to visit Mata Vaishno Devi with my wife to seek her blessings," he added.
Kejriwal was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in March this year in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. He was granted bail by the Supreme Court last month and was released from Tihar Jail.
Following his release, Kejriwal made a surprising move by announcing his resignation from the chief minister post. He stated that he would not take the position until the public gives him the "certificate of honesty" by making AAP victorious again in the assembly elections next year.
Atishi, a party leader and minister, succeeded him as the chief minister. Meanwhile, Kejriwal and AAP are preparing for the upcoming assembly elections.
On Saturday, the former chief minister addressed party workers at a marathon meet in Delhi's Pitampura.
He claimed that no party in India's history has been "harassed" as much as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and praised the resilience of AAP leaders and workers.
Kejriwal urged them to double their efforts to win all 70 seats in the upcoming assembly elections, emphasizing the high stakes for Delhi's future. He asserted that the BJP aims to "dismantle the progress made under AAP's governance."
The event was attended by senior AAP leaders and former ministers, including Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, CM Atishi, Rajya Sabha MPs Sandeep Pathak and Sanjay Singh, and AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai, along with all the state vice presidents, Mandal in-charges, Mandal presidents, and 'Sangathan Mantris.'
The party members also gave a hero's welcome to Satyendar Jain, who met with all the workers for the first time after being granted bail last week. Jain had been in jail for around two years over allegations of "money laundering" through multiple firms allegedly linked to him. The party workers enthusiastically gave him a standing ovation, while senior leaders garlanded him on stage.
