All UT depts urged to set annual ‘sub targets’ for 2030 devp goals
Chandigarh: The finance department of Chandigarh administration has written to all departments, directing them to set annual sub-targets for each year for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It has been urged that it should be done preferably with the goal of achieving the target by 2028.
As the adviser to the administrator, Rajiv Verma, has held a meeting with all the departments in this regard, the departments were told to work on their respective subjects as per the given targets.

Since the central government keep a tab on these targets, the role of each department is quite crucial.
“It is stated that a meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Adviser to the Administrator, Chandigarh Administration regarding 'UT Indicator Framework’ (UTIF) for assessing Chandigarh's position in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) India Index (2023-24) rankings released by NITI Aayog. As per the discussions in the meeting, the adviser directed all concerned Departments, Boards, Corporations of UT Chandigarh to set annual sub-targets for each year before 2030 and preferably with the goal of achieving the target by 2028 and formulate an action plan for the same”, reads the letter.
However, it has been stated that the response in this regard are awaited from many departments of the UT and moreover, several departments have not submitted targets for all concerned indicators.
“The central government is quite keen on this subject, and holds online meetings quite frequently. Therefore, we have asked all departments take this up on priority,” an official of the UT said.
