Ahmedabad: A businessman from Navrangpura filed a complaint with police on Saturday, alleging that a scrap trader and his father cheated him out of Rs 60 lakh. The duo, Jignesh Chunara and his father Mukesh Chunara from Sanand, allegedly fled with the money on Oct 4. Jayesh Parmar, 44, who runs a scrap trading business at Ashram Road, stated in his complaint with Navrangpura police that his friend Akshay Mehta had handed over the cash to Jignesh to be delivered to him.
Parmar's FIR states that Mehta had introduced him to Jignesh three months ago. As Jignesh too was in the same business, he and Parmar met frequently. On Oct 4, Mehta called Parmar and said he wanted to return Rs 60 lakh cash, which he had borrowed from him a few months ago. Parmar asked Jignesh to collect it from Mehta. A while later, Jignesh called Parmar and told him that he had collected the money and would give it to him at his office.
Allegedly, he did not turn up even after an hour. Parmar then found that Jignesh's mobile was switched off. He called up Mukesh, who told him that Jignesh had gone to his wife's house. Two days later, Mukesh too went incommunicado. On Saturday, Parmar got a call from Viramgam police informing him that Mukesh had been caught with Rs 50 lakh cash, which belonged to him. Parmar lodged a complaint of cheating and abetment against Jignesh and Mukesh with Navrangpura police.
