Patna: The Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport is all set to witness an increase in flight operations during the winter season, with the new schedule beginning on October 27 and extending till the end of March 2025. As per officials, the airport will handle nearly 29% more flights compared to the summer timetable.
Low-cost carrier SpiceJet will commence six more flights, including two for Delhi, and one each for Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati and Bengaluru.
The airline is currently operating only two flights one each for Delhi and Mumbai. Besides, the budget carrier
IndiGo will operate four more flights on this routes.
An executive of SpiceJet at Patna airport said that five flights for Delhi, Mumbai, Guwahati and Bengaluru would be operational by October 27, with the commencement of the winter schedule.
“All news flights will start operating from October 27. These flights will be more convenient for people who are planning to visit their family during the festive time,” he said.
As per the schedule, the Guwahati- Patna-Guwahati (SG-3651/ 3652) flight will arrive at the city airport at 11.25am and depart for Guwahati at 11.55am. Similarly, Mumbai- bound flight SG- 324/ 325 will land at Patna airport at 4.35pm and take off at 5.10pm, whereas flight for Bengaluru (SG- 531/ 532) will touch down here at 12.20pm and depart at 6.10pm. Flight between Patna and Ahmedabad will depart from Patna at 12.55pm and return to the city airport at 5.35pm.
Delhi bound flights — SG-8729 and SG-754 will land at 10.20am and 3.50pm, respectively, and depart at 11am and 4.30pm. The timing of the existing Delhi flight will be changed and operate in the morning hours.
IndiGo’s executives said that they are operating 27 flights per day from Patna airport, but in the winter schedule, the number of flights will go up to 31 per day. “Four new flights will be added on the existing routes increasing the frequency of the aircrafts,” they said.
The city airport currently handles 34 flights per day with IndiGo operating 27 flights, Air India three, while SpiceJet and Vistara two each.
