Ludhiana: With the beginning of the wedding season, gangs from Madhya Pradesh, stealing cash and gold from wedding guests in the city, are back. Dehlon Police have booked three men from Madhya Pradesh for stealing a bag of cash from a wedding organised at a resort in Raniyan village of Dehlon.

The accused have been identified as Ghanaiya Lal, Baadak and Vishal alias Sony, of Madhya Pradesh.

Police identified the accused with the help of CCTV camera footage.
The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Sikandar Singh, 56, a resident of Raniyan village. The complainant said that his daughter’s wedding was being organised at a resort in Raniyan village, where he was carrying a bag containing cash and shagun envelopes. He said that he sat on a chair and kept the bag on the adjacent chair but realised after some time that it was missing.
Sikandar Singh said that he searched for the bag but could not find it. Thereafter, the resort manager checked CCTV cameras, which had footage of the accused stealing the bag. Another CCTV camera installed outside the resort showed the accused escaping in an auto after executing the crime. Thereafter, the victim informed the police.

Inspector Gagandeep Singh, SHO, Dehlon police station said, “Similar incidents have been reported in the city earlier also and police arrested a few MP residents running gangs of miscreants. They visit Ludhiana and other districts during the wedding season and steal gold and cash. Police got pictures of more gang members from the arrested accused, with the help of which they identified the accused, Ghaniaya, Vishal and Baadak, who executed the theft.”
A case has been registered and attempts are on to track the accused.
In the second incident, a bag of cash and gold was stolen from a marriage palace near Jandiali village, Chandigarh Road. Focal Point police lodged an FIR against unknown accused. However, the CCTV camera installed at the palace captured footage of a teenage boy escaping with the bag. Navdeep Singh of Samrala village told the police that his elder brother’s wedding was organised at a marriage palace in Jandyali village. During the ceremony, they realised that a bag of cash, which also contained a gold necklace and two gold rings, was stolen. Police said that the CCTV camera installed at the marriage palace captured a teenage boy escaping with the bag. He added that a gang from MP was suspected to be involved in the theft.
