Seers start Cauvery yatra from Talacauvery to Poompuhar
Madikeri: A team of religious leaders started its visit to various religious places, including Poompuhar in Tamil Nadu. The team will visit several places located on the banks of Cauvery River in both Karnataka and TN. The team was traditionally received by the office bearers of the Cauvery River Cleanliness Movement Committee at Kushalnagar.
The yatra, which began from Talacauvery to Poompuhar, where the Cauvery River joins the sea, was launched on Sunday at Talacauvery.

A team of seers collected holy Cauvery water and carried it in copper pots. Shanta Mallikarjuna Swami launched the 14th edition of the annual religious yatra.
Under the leadership of Ramananda Swami, founder of the All India Sannyasin Sangha, sadhus and saints from various states in South India are part of the yatra. The team will travel along the banks of Cauvery River until Nov 13 with the chariot of mother Cauvery. The concluding ceremony will be held at Poompuhar, where they will conduct special pujas.
Ramananda Swami said that religious and social programmes will be held at many places along the river during the yatra to create awareness among the people about river conservation. The yatra team travelled through Bhagamandala and Kushalnagar in the district. Meanwhile, a special ‘aarti' programme was held at the confluence of Bhagamandala.
The yatra team also participated in the 165th Maha Aarti programme at Cauvery Aarti Kshetra in Kushalnagar. The programme was held in the presence of Sadashiva Swami, pontiff of Kodlipet Kirikodli. On Monday, a grand aarti programme will be held near Sri Ramalingeswara Temple in Kanive, Kodagu. Then, the Cauvery River Awareness Yatra team will proceed to Ramnathpur via Konanur in Hassan district.
When the yatra team arrived at Kushalnagar, Vanita Chandramohan, head of Kushalnagar Cauvery Maha Aarti group, and others received them.
