Noida: A 38-year-old man who allegedly badgered his daughter to death a day after she tried to elope with a friend was arrested on Saturday after his wife came forward and submitted a complaint.

The girl, who came back later that evening, had left home once earlier too.
Ramakishore told his family to pack up and leave for their native village in Amroha the same night for some urgent work. The family members —Ramakishore, his wife and two children, including Sonam —left on his bike.
Around midnight, Ramkishore stopped near Bishada underpass and allegedly beat up Sonam and blamed her for bringing disrepute to the family. When her mother tried to intervene, Ramkishore allegedly beat her up and threatened to kill her. He then hit Sonam repeatedly on the head with a gravel stone till she bled to death. The family left the body and left on the bike.
Cops found the girl's body near the underpass on Monday and initiated a hit-and-run probe under BNS sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 103 (1) (causing death by negligence), additional DCP (Greater Noida) Ashok Kumar Sharma said.
Cops identified the woman through social media and zeroed in on Ramkishore after his wife broke down during the probe and submitted a complaint against her husband for the murder. Based on her statements, cops added charges under BNS section 103(1) (murder) to the case and arrested Ramkishore. His bike and the stone were also recovered.
